Areas for action
Research
When it comes to integrating sustainability into research, as a social responsibility, three complementary areas for action have been identified. First is “Good scientific practice”, which forms the basis for a culture of scientific integrity. The second area, “Socially responsible research”, goes beyond this and is aimed at promoting systematic reflection on researching with social responsibility. This characterises the research process itself, in other words “how” research is being conducted. The third area for action, “Solutions to societal challenges”, is about the solutions that science contributes to specific issues, in other words “what” is being researched.
